The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Creation of a Year Plan

  • Organizing of events such as team meetings, information meetings, and a member weekend

Event Manager

As the event manager, I am responsible for the creation of the overall program of Enactus UvA. I am organizing events both in their content as well as all the steps to make the events possible. To increase cooperation and connectedness between members, I introduced a members weekend/introduction after the first recruitment period with all relevant members of Enactus UvA where we get a chance to get to know each other on a personal level in order to increase team cohesion and motivation. All the (physical) activities are planned and adjusted in accordance with the conditions of this year with regards to COVID-19. We might do an online event at the beginning of the year as well as a trip when possible later in the year. Weekly team meetings of project members will continue on a specific date in the week. However, in order to protect autonomy in the enterprises, project members are encouraged to hold this meeting in absence of the board. The project coordinator may only attend if they are asked to do so. The minutes of the meeting are sent to the corresponding coordinator who will report back to the entire board when asked to do so. Once a month we will organize a meeting with mandatory attendance for all members. Prior to this meeting, all projects are required to hand in a status report to their coordinator. In the meeting (and report) all projects are required to present their work in regards to their goals of impact and revenue, as well as sharing any general tips and/or raising questions or issues. We will host physical meetings only when the circumstances allow (due to COVID-19). The goal of the meetings is to enhance the collectiveness of Enactus UvA and to help members in their personal development and function-specific challenges, as well as taking the projects further in development.

Besides that, I will also stay in close contact with the members of Enactus to understand their needs and how much time they have and I will base the program on these factors. We plan to organize function-specific meetings in relaxed settings in order to spark conversation and sharing of general ideas. For example, hosting “bubbles and brunch”. On top of this, we want to schedule 1-2 workshops for each function in collaboration with corresponding Enactus members across the Netherlands. The idea is to embrace quality over quantity in the matter. While increasing participation in the workshops is beneficial for the host, it is a chance for members to further increase their network and exchange ideas with corresponding function-specific members across the country. In this way, members will also be able to develop soft and hard skills. Furthermore, I will measure the impact our enterprises make by monthly project updates in which every enterprise will fill in a google document sheet in which questions regarding status and impact will be asked. I will be in close contact with the External Relations Manager, Chair, and Vice-Chair to organize the meetings regarding our external partners and treasure.

Lastly, participation in ‘The Impact Days’ in cooperation with the UvA through info stalls, with a chance to pitch for Enactus UvA and all associated companies. The impact days is a collaboration between the four largest municipalities in the Netherlandsintroducing people to the innovative world of social enterprises. A variety of events is organized to show the endless possibilities of social entrepreneurship. Besides increasing our name awareness, we would like to raise 500 euros for the projects at the Impact Days. We will create a stand with all the information about our local enterprises.
